English Wins, Sharia Loses in OK

The state of Oklahoma is officially safe from Islamist jurists and non-English speakers. Ballot measures mandating that all official state business be conducted in English, and forbidding judges from considering international or sharia law in their decisions passed by wide margins. The League of Women voters and other groups said the English-only measure is discriminatory and bad for the state’s economy. Oklahoma’s Muslim community called the sharia law measure an attack on Islam, and vowed lawsuits.
