The mother of the unarmed black man choked to death by an NYPD officer appealed to the public on Saturday and urged people to continue protesting her son’s death. Gwen Carr made an emotional appearance with the Rev. Al Sharpton in Harlem and talked about how protesters have recognized her and her son’s widow, Esaw Garner. The latter said she told her children to “look at all the love your father’s getting,” especially as people gathered around their apartment building. A march is planned for next Saturday in Washington, D.C., down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. The families of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Trayvon Martin will be present. “Next Saturday is when we go from moment to movement,” Sharpton said.
