Ernie Els Takes British Open

After an ending that’s likely left his opponents thoroughly bumfuzzled, Ernie Els won the British Open on Sunday. The golfer came from five shots behind leader Adam Scott to win the major tournament. Despite Scott’s healthy lead, Els birdied on the 18th hole while Scott frittered his head start away, bogeying on the last four holes. “Last year, I was nowhere,” Els said after his head-snapping finish on the links at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. “Somehow I started believing a little bit more, and here we are.”
