ESPN Falls For Fake LeBron James Comment About Anthony Davis
‘CYA LAKER’
It was quite a scoop: ESPN reported Tuesday night on what looked like LeBron James publicly encouraging Anthony Davis to join the Lakers. The only problem was that it was completely made up. The NBA recently warned players against making public statements that amounted to “sustained public recruiting” after James said it would be “amazing” if Davis joined him. So imagine SportsCenter's excitement when it saw James appearing to say under a photo of Davis wearing a garish sweater: “SHEESH that sweater is (fire). Ur killin it bro anyway cya laker oops that was a typo I meant cya LAter #striveforgreatness.” Anchor Neil Everett said: “Look what we found on Insta-face: LeBron James giving thumps up to Anthony Davis’s wardrobe, and at the same time James basically giving the middle finger to the NBA. Sheesh!” But the screenshot appears to have come from Twitter user @sreekyshooter who made a series of joke posts about LeBron trying to woo Davis across social media.
