Ethiopian Air Flight and Data Recorder Shows ‘Clear Similarities” to Lion Air Disaster

Initial analysis of black box data and voice recorders link the two air deadly disasters just five months apart.

Initial analysis from the flight and data recorders of Ethiopian Airlines doomed flight 302 that crashed earlier this month killing all 157 onboard show “clear similarities” to the Lion Air Flight 610 that crashed in October 2018 killing all 198 on board, according to AFP. Ethiopia’s transportation minister Dagmawit Moges made the initial comments on Sunday in Paris when data from the black boxes was validated by both Ethiopian and U.S. investigators, he said, adding that investigators were able to recover all relevant data from the black box. The preliminary report will be released within 30 days, he said. “We got all the data we needed from the CDR and FDR,” he said, referring to the flight data and voice recorders.
