Nicholas Brooks, the ex-boyfriend of slain swimsuit designer Sylvie Cachay, has been charged with one count of murder in connection with her death, according to a statement from the Manhattan District Attorney's office Tuesday. The body of Cachay, 33, was discovered bruised and submerged in water in an overflowing bathtub at the Soho House club and hotel on December 9. Brooks, the son of “You Light Up My Life” composer Joseph Brooks, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday afternoon to the charge of second-degree murder, and if convicted, could face 25 years to life in prison. Brooks will next appear in court on February 8.
