Facebook hired former CNN anchor Campbell Brown on Friday to head up its news partnerships division. In her role, which is brand new at the social media company, Brown will “help news organizations and journalists work more closely and more effectively with Facebook,” she wrote Friday on her Facebook page. The social media platform has stuggled recently with the scourge of “fake news,” prompting questions over whether the company has an obligation to stop it from spreading. Facebook said Brown will not be making decisions about specific content, but will instead serve as the company’s go-between with news organizations, which rely on the platform.
