Joe Ganim, former mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut, was re-elected Tuesday, 12 years after he left office. Ganim served as mayor of Bridgeport from 1991 until 2003, when he was convicted of 16 charges of corruption for embezzling taxpayer money and sentenced to seven years in prison. Ganim made a public apology earlier this year and emphasized in his campaign the good he says he did for the city: lowering taxes and making neighborhoods safer.
