Ex-Hill Staffers Band Together to Demand Mandatory Sexual Harassment Training

Nearly 400 former Capitol Hill staffers are demanding that sexual harassment training be mandatory for all members of Congress and their staff. In a letter to congressional leaders, the former staffers write that they “believe that Congress’s policies for preventing sexual harassment and adjudicating complaints of harassment are inadequate and need reform.” The letter also cites a July 2016 CQ/Roll Call survey which found that one in six women reported having been the victim of sexual harassment. Last week, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) wrote a letter to the Rules Committee asking that it institute the mandatory training.
