A man described as the ex-husband of a 24-year-old woman shot and killed her inside a Jemison, Alabama, doctor’s office Monday. Witnesses say the woman living next door to Dr. Jayprakash Patel’s office ran there for help, but was followed by the unnamed suspect, who shot just inside the door. Police said the suspect shot himself in the head but that his condition is unknown. The Birmingham News reports he and the victim have been in a court battle for custody of their 6-year-old son.
