The woman who had an extramarital affair with Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, and was allegedly blackmailed by him to keep it quiet, also claimed that he slapped her. According to TPM, the woman told her then-husband in 2015 that Greitens slapped her after she told him she had sex with her husband. The governor, a Republican elected in November 2016, denied the claim, but a lawyer for the woman’s ex said: “My client has asserted that that is what he has been told by his former spouse. My client has gone on the record with that statement and I have no reason to believe anything other than the absolute veracity of my client.”
