Former MMA fighter War Machine will serve a life sentence for the brutal assault of his ex-girlfriend Christy Mack, a judge ruled Monday. War Machine (born Jonathan Paul Koppenhaver) was convicted on charges including sexual assault, coercion, battery by strangulation, kidnapping, and others relating to his attack on Mack in 2014. He was also charged with attempted murder, but the jury could not come to an agreement on his innocence. He will be eligible for parole in 36 years, when he is 71. At his Monday sentencing, Mack told the court she feared for her life if he is released. “I do know that when he gets out he will kill me,” she said.
