Dean Skelos, the former New York state Senate Majority Leader, was found guilty on Friday of bribery, extortion, and conspiracy charges related to his abuse of power to enrich his son, Adam, who was also convicted. Skelos' conviction makes him the second powerful New York politician brought down in as many weeks by Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara. The Skelos duo face up to 130 years in prison—the same amount of time former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver faces for his corruption charges.
