Exclusive: Michael Phelps’s Alleged Ex Taylor Lianne Chandler on Porn Debut ‘Going For the Gold’

Taylor Lianne Chandler made headlines when she “came out” as Olympic gold medalist, Michael Phelps’s intersex self-proclaimed girlfriend. Now she’s starring in her first ever porno. In her hardcore debut, Going For the Gold, Chandler teamed up with the same company that distributed Kim Kardashian’s sex tape, Vivid Entertainment.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast Taylor Chandler opens up about her new adult film based on her love affair with Phelps, her sex life with the eighteen time gold medalist, and how she really feels about those Internet trolls.

Do you think this is the beginning of another career for you?

Taylor Chandler: Absolutely. Obviously I’ve known about this for a while but because of the confidentiality agreement I couldn’t say anything. Let’s see, I shot the film back in December. It’s been torture saying, “oh I don’t know, I’m thinking about it.” But I have to go with what the studio wants. They saw how well the Howard Stern thing went and sped up production.

What happened on Howard Stern?

Howard Stern hadn’t had a controversial guest like that and he certainly hasn’t had somebody get naked in his studio in over a year, year and a half I was told, since he started doing America’s Got Talent.

Why did you take your clothes off for Howard Stern?

Once again, I knew there was a video in the works. Initially we had hoped it would be ready in time so that could be talked about on Howard but it wasn’t. So when he brought it up, I’m not good at lying so it was a weird conversation for me. So when he asked how big are your boobs, I said 34DDD and he said, “Wow those are massive.” It just struck me to say, ‘Do you wanna see ‘em?” And he said yes.

So I’ll be damned if I was in the process of putting them away and something came up about my body and I said, “You know I’m thinner than I normally am with all the stress since this has happened but I have a great body, I’ve always taken pride in it, I work out all the time, I eat right and I love my body.” I stood up, lifted my dress, did a little twirl. I don’t remember what he said, but it was something about my vagina so I said, “Well do you want to see that too?” And he said yes, so off came my panties.

What was his reaction?

I looked at him from the front and you could tell he was just like a kid in a candy store. He was shocked, it was like he was expecting, I don’t know, for me to still be intersex and have both or just be something freakish. I have no idea what he expected. Then I turned around and bent over and gave him our famous flower pose and he was thoroughly shocked. He was like, “Ya know, she has a vagina.” So then I said to him, “Would you hit that?” And he was like, “Hell yeah I would.” So then I made the comment, “My pussy has been blessed by the king of all media as fuckable.”

So why make porn now?

I’ve been destroyed in the media for just about everything. Anything they can say horrible about me, they have. So I think on some level it was to prove I’m all woman hear me roar kind of thing. And then you have the premier people in the adult entertainment industry calling you, wanting you, offering you money that is mind boggling. They made it clear they’d respect my boundaries. I felt safe. They were very respectful of boundaries that ended up going out the window, I might add. These are the kinds of offers that are coming at me.

The Disneyworld of adult entertainment is knocking on my door. And they really made me feel so comfortable. I’ve lived so opposite of that world my entire life, so on some level it was intriguing. I wanted to prove to the world, so to speak, I’m just like any other girl.

I’m a girl that was involved with an amazing guy, an American icon, an Olympian. And I did a video about our love life, that’s how I look at it. There are interviews in it, I talk about him, I talk about things that we did, and then it comes to life for the most part. It was fun. I know Michael is going to see this. He’s a guy.

What do you think Michael Phelps’s reaction will be to this?

It’s not like he hates publicity, but this has been all over the place with us. And I think he hates the fact that my past came out and I was reduced to so many negative statements and that people wanted to question his own sexuality. The thing is, if you’re gay you’re not going to be attracted to a woman. I don’t care what birth challenge is happening between your legs, if you look like a chick chances are the guy that’s into you likes girls regardless of whatever else is going on. Or they fall in love with that person, because we’re all on that gender spectrum regardless of where we fall. I was medically diagnosed. It’s not like I was a guy.

Going back to what you said earlier, about your boundaries going out the window when you were filming. What did you mean by that?

Just remember I was raised by my grandparents so I’m a generation ahead of where I should be, so in my mind I’m thinking Cinemax after dark, no cameras twelve inches from my cooch. I’m thinking very soft lighting. Oh, and I would not do solo masturbation, I would not do anal and no bodily fluids in any of my orifices. You think its funny, but you have to talk about all of these things before doing something like this. There is a contract in place. People have come at me pretty hard about why I “lied about this for so long,” but this is an industry standard, I signed a confidentially non-disclosure. It was not my place to talk about this until the studio was ready. So, I did end up doing solo masturbation.

Why was solo masturbation one of the things you said no to initially?

Because I’ve never done it. I’ve never even done it in my real life. And I talk about that in one of the interviews leading up to it. Even with Michael I’d never done a 69 before, but I did it with him. I’m not saying I’m a prude, but a lot of the things I went through growing up, being molested, raped, surviving incest, and then having a body at war with itself, I think all those things combined didn’t make me the most sexually uninhibited.

It’s not like I live in the dark ages, it’s not like I haven’t seen a porn movie. I obviously know how sex works and I know what men like. So for solo masturbation, a lot of it for a movie is putting on a show because you’ve got to make it sexy. It’s important to bring your lover or your viewers in, which is how I thought of it. And in those moments I thought of Michael. I thought how can I bring Michael here with me? So I thought of him being away, which he was during our relationship a couple of times, so I thought of him being away at a swim meet. I thought of it like I was doing a sexy video for my honey to make him want to come home. I was getting myself off making it all about him, so he wants to come home and do the things I’m talking about. And that’s how I thought of it in those moments.

Have you thought about making another adult film?

I agreed to do one film because it was based on my love affair with Michael Phelps. If for some reason I ever decided to do it again, I’d want the same recipe. Kimberely my director, Mattie the most amazing camera man ever, he looks like Wolverine he’s so gorgeous and so down to earth. Every one just made me feel so comfortable on set. My makeup person Cammi, she made me look like a sex screen goddess. I wish I could look like that every day!

It sounds like you had a really positive experience creating this movie.

I did. I’m really lucky. I’ve heard horror stories in years past from different people, not necessarily tied to Vivid. I don’t know if I’m lucky or if it’s because I dealt with Vivid. I was so fortunate. My co-star Ty Roderick was gorgeous. He and I became friends leading up to doing the film.

Did getting to know your co-star before your sex scene with him help your performance?

Absolutely. If anybody has learned anything about me, I’m emotional. I’m about feelings, even in this instance. I don’t know that I could have walked on set with a complete stranger and just done what I did, it became magic. I was attracted to my co-star. We hung out and I liked him. So when you see he and I on screen, well, I’ve never been someone to just go and have sex with someone. If I don’t have feelings and a connection it doesn’t happen. So what you see on film with Ty and me, it’s real.

And that’s what you had with Michael?

It almost mirrors what I had with Michael, because I’m literally exploring a new person that I have feelings for. And he’s just as blessed from the waist down as Michael is. He’s not quite as tall is Michael is but as far as the penis goes Michael’s probably more skinny and long, whereas Ty is long and very girthy too.

So based on this experience will you seek out a career in porn?

Just to go do porn I don’t think that would be me. Obviously at the end of the day, it was a good experience. If this did well and people wanted another one, and if all the same people were involved and it followed the same formula, I could probably do another one. But as far as a career goes, that’s just not me.

Do you think Michael would approve of your porn?

I told Michael about the tape after it was done, so he’s known about it. Regardless of what has happened between he and I, Michael is still a guy. He loved my body, he loved my big boobs, he loved my fitness regimen. We had so much in common the way we were dedicated to fitness. It’s not like that goes away. So now that there is a video that duplicates our life, just curiosity alone, I know he’ll watch it. And I know he’ll be turned on by it.

In doing this film, just like in real life with Michael, Michael never came in my face and all these things you see in porn. And I know people want to see stuff sometimes outside their comfort zone, things they wouldn’t necessarily do they find beautiful in porn. But this porn to me is showing intersex is normal and what an amazing sex life I had with an Olympian. No one is going to be disappointed with our sex life.

Tell me more.

Michael is a dynamo, tons of different positions. He’s bossy even in sex. Where it’s like, when he’s beside you and pulls your leg up and enters you he’s like, “Look I want you to see my cock going inside of you.” Then you’re looking down seeing this beautiful penis going in and out of you, you’re seeing the Olympic rings, you’re seeing the University of Michigan blue M coming at you and going in and out. It’s gorgeous. It’s funny that he’s an Olympian because he really does have the body of a Greek god.

Now when you say you look down and see Olympic rings and the University of Michigan M, are you saying that he’s tattooed or do you mean that figuratively?

Yeah, he’s tattooed. I’m pretty sure that’s public. He has the Olympic rings, the red, blue, green, yellow, black, whatever the colors are it’s not like I was color coding but they were there to the left, so on his right side. Then when you’re looking at it to the right, is the blue M. They are literally to the left and right of the base of his penis. They are low. That’s why when he wears a Speedo you don’t really see it but it’s there.

Do you feel like you’ve moved on from Michael? Or do you still miss him?

I am definitely moving on. There is someone new in my life but there is a part of me that misses him. I had an amazing thing with him and sexually I had something with him that I’d never had with anyone else. So I miss that and I miss him, he’s funny. I miss our friendship but he’s a brand. The companies he’s the face of generate billions with his image so there’s a lot more going on. We were forced to be public and there’s no point in hashing that out.

What are things like for you now?

The guy I’m with now, he’s a former hockey player but one thing I’ve learned is to guard our privacy. There’s so much attention now, I’ve reached a level of fame and celebrity I cannot just go out to a club unless I have security. Regardless of how I came into that, this is my life now. And now with the video and after doing Howard Stern the bubble just became even smaller.

What were your family and friends reactions to you doing porn?

This is the tough part. More than half of my friends in my life are from my Christian world. I graduated from a Christian school, so here’s going to come the real challenge. Are my friends really good Christians that know how to not be judgmental, forgive and not judge me on something I know they’ll see as wrong? I grew up thinking this was wrong. Now that I’ve done it, I realize I did something that people do everyday in the privacy of their home the only difference is I did it on film. It’s not for everybody, but I don’t think I should be hated, chastised or lose people because of it. But I think I will. I’ve been very involved in church. I worked as an interpreter. I was prim and proper publicly. What I’ve done isn’t for everybody.

As your celebrity status grows, and you begin to see more hate mongers on the Internet how does that make you feel?

Horrible. But I don’t read it anymore. There’s just so much now. It doesn’t matter what I say or do, I’m not going to change their minds. They already have their opinions about me. It’s easy for people to idolize Michael, he’s an amazing swimmer, he’s an Olympian, a gold medal winner, but that has nothing to do with his character or who he is as a person, a man or a friend or a lover. Those are all separate from his persona and I don’t think people understand that. I don’t care what you do, or how famous you get at the end of the day when you go home and close the door you’re still a person. And you deal with the same problems and issues as everybody else.

Do you have any regrets about being in an adult film?

No. If I thought that I wouldn’t have done it. I’m old enough now to know what I do and don’t want to do. I don’t have regrets, I’m proud of that body of work that went into that film. I think it’s beautiful and it’s accurate and I’m not ashamed of it. If I can take anything away from my relationship with Michael it’s that he freed me and opened me up sexually.
