Election Night

Exit Polls Show Economy Dominates

Well duh: The first exit poll shows the economy is the election's most important issue, with 62 percent of voters naming it as their top concern. That's more than all other issues combined. Voters also are unhappy with both parties, though Democrats, despite the bloodbath expected tonight, are still more popular than Republicans: 43 percent have a favorable opinion of the party, while 53 percent have a negative opinion. Forty-one percent have a favorable opinion of the GOP, with 53 percent disapproving. The exit polls also show that more voters blame Wall Street and President Bush for the poor economy than they do President Obama. And Obama's approval rating is at 45-54.
