Exit Rumored for ABC’s Amanpour

Will Jake Tapper be tapped to replace Christiane Amanpour on ABC’s struggling Sunday-morning talk show, This Week? Sources said Friday that Amanpour, who took the anchor chair on the show in August 2010, was perhaps on her way out from the program, which has struggled in ratings during her tenure. Twitter was abuzz with possible replacements, including Tapper, ABC News’s senior White House correspondent, and George Stephanopoulos, who headed This Week for eight years before making a move to ABC’s Good Morning America. Amanpour is a well-known international journalist who leaped from a reporting role at CNN to host the show. Page Six reported that she recently reconnected with Turner CEO Phil Kent, prompting whispers about the British native possibly returning to CNN. Other ABC personalities were said to be considered, including Jonathan Karl, Terry Moran, and Matthew Dowd.
