Facebook Denies Building Phone

After rumors swirl on Internet.

Too bad: It sounded like a good idea. Facebook is denying reports from the weekend that it is building its own phone. The rumor started on Tech Crunch, and said the company was building an operating system for a phone that would integrate users’ contact lists and other core phone functions. Tech Crunch even named Facebook employees who it said were heading up the project. But a Facebook employee tells Reuters that the company is “not building a phone,” adding, "Our view is that almost all experiences would be better if they were social, so integrating deeply into existing platforms and operating systems is a good way to enable this.”
