Facebook’s revenue rose 33 percent and profits increased 9 percent in the third quarter, marking a slowdown, The New York Times reports. Last quarter, the company’s revenue increased by 42 percent, the newspaper noted. Facebook’s daily active users increased by 9 percent to 1.49 billion, compared to 11 percent last quarter. The social network has faced a rough year and a half putting out fires related to its issues on the “spread of disinformation, hate speech and leaks of user data”—including the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The company has attempted to introduce new products to keep users engaged. “We’re building the best services for private messaging and stories, and there are huge opportunities ahead in video and commerce as well,” Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement.
