NBC announced Thursday that Jimmy Fallon will stay put as the host of The Tonight Show for six more years. NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt told a crowd at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that Fallon will stick around through the 2021 season to compete against Stephen Colbert, who takes over as the host of CBS’s Late Show in September. This week, Colbert told reporters he has no interest in maintaining the rivalry that existed between the shows’ former hosts, Jay Leno and David Letterman. “Maybe I missed the competitive gene,” Colbert said. “The idea of war between hosts makes no sense to me.”
