The father of an infant found dead in New York City’s East River over the weekend has been brought back from Thailand to face a judge Friday. James Currie’s son, an 8-month-old boy, was discovered on an embankment of the river beneath the Brooklyn Bridge on Sunday wearing only a diaper. Investigators say the last time the child, named Mason Saldana, was seen alive was Saturday afternoon, when Currie was captured on video entering his apartment. Some 20 minutes later, the baby boy’s mother handed off her son. Currie was later spotted walking near South Street Seaport and, the next day, he got on a flight to Thailand. He was arrested when he arrived there. It is still not known how baby Mason died.
