FBI Director James Comey said even though the FBI has identified Americans fighting for ISIS, they wouldn’t necessarily be barred from re-entering the country. Ultimately, an American citizen, unless their passport’s revoked, is entitled to come back,” he told CBS’s 60 Minutes Sunday night. “So, someone who’s fought with ISIL, with an American passport wants to come back, we will track them very carefully.” Comey stated that the FBI knows of a dozen or so Americans fighting for ISIS—a re-iteration of the total he gave Thursday. It was significantly lower than the 100 Americans previously identified as fighting for ISIS in Syria. Comey said that the 88 or so included in that first total had been killed, arrested, or had attempted to join extremist groups.
