Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, was “interviewed by the FBI twice while he was working as a political consultant for a Ukrainian political party” in 2013 and 2014, according to new court documents obtained by The Washington Post. The documents—which were filed by prosecutors from special counsel Robert Mueller’s office—show that Manafort was interviewed in March 2013, and again in July 2014 with fellow campaign operative Rick Gates. This makes Manafort the third 2016 Trump campaign operative to have been interviewed by the FBI before officially joining the campaign. Manafort stepped down as campaign chairman in August 2016 amid a series of news stories about his political work for the Ukrainian government.
