The Federal Communications Commission voted Thursday morning to cap the exorbitant costs of prison phone calls. In a 3-2 vote, the federal regulators elected to cap the rates and fees that inmates’ families pay for calls. The leading phone providers for jailhouse calls are expected to fight back, largely due to the slashed revenue that would result from the measure.
