Sorry Comcast: FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has announced a vote on new net-neutrality rules, probably to take place on December 21. His proposal would prevent Internet providers from blocking or slowing any legal Internet traffic; however, according to a speech Genachowski plans to give on Wednesday, it would allow Internet providers to charge different rates for different levels of service, so that consumers who use lots of data would have to pay more. There will also be some basic net-neutrality rules governing wireless networks; however, Genachowski will allow for more flexibility with the rules on these networks.
