The FBI has arrested a man they say was involved in planning the attack on the Draw Muhammad event in Garland, Texas, last month. Abdul Malik Abdul Karim, 43, is charged with conspiracy, transporting firearms across state lines for a felony, and providing false statements to the FBI. Authorities say they first approached Karim immediately after the attack, when he denied any knowledge of what happened. The newly released criminal complaint, however, suggests that he potentially began conspiring with Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi as early as in February, immediately after the Charlie Hebdo attacks. Simpson and Soofi were both shot dead by police during the failed attack.
