Feds Probe D.C. Bootlegging of ‘West Wing’ DVDs

Federal officials are probing an alleged bootlegging of pirated copies of hit TV shows including The West Wing, The Sopranos, The Twlight Zone, and The Big Bang Theory in Washington, D.C.’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. Investigators believe the DVDs were imported from Asia in 2011 and 2012 and re-sold in Washington. It is unclear if the illegal activity continued past 2012, when federal officials conducted a raid and found 1,965 DVDs—300 of them pirated. According to a court filing, the Motion Pictures of America Association is joining in the investigation.
