Curtis Hanson, the renowned screenwriter and director behind L.A. Confidential and Wonder Boys, was found dead in his Hollywood Hills home Tuesday. He was 71. TMZ reported that Hanson died of a heart attack, though the Los Angeles Police Department said he died of “natural causes.” With a string of box-office hits under his belt, Hanson left the production of his latest film in 2012 due to an undisclosed illness. An Oscar winner for his adaptation of L.A. Confidential, Hanson was also behind The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, In Her Shoes, and 8 Mile, among many others.
