On Friday, Finland’s parliament voted through a measure that grants same-sex unions the same legal status as heterosexual marriages, making Finland the 12th European nation to do so. The vote passed with a narrow margin of 105-92. All Finnish couples now have equal rights to adopt children and share a surname.
