A Methodist bishop in California has offered a job to a Philadelphia United Methodist pastor who was fired for officiating his son’s gay wedding. Rev. Frank Schaefer said he is considering the offer, which will not restore his credentials, but he will have the same rights. On Friday, Schaefer filed an appeal for the defrocking decision of the Board of Ordained Ministry. A church jury suspended him last month, but Schaefer refused to surrender his credentials.
