Firefighters have managed to contain 17 percent of California’s raging Carr Fire, up from 5 percent early Sunday, according to a Monday report from ABC News. The firefighters have been racing against time, ABC adds, hoping to contain the blaze before strong winds spread it further. At least six have died since the fire began last Monday when a vehicle ignited. Additionally, 38,500 people have been evacuated, and more than 800 structures have been destroyed. Firefighters have also made progress in their battle against a fire near Yosemite National Park, ABC adds, successfully containing about 30 percent of that blaze.
