Two inmates were executed Tuesday night, the first in the U.S. since the botched execution in Oklahoma back in April. The first, a Georgia inmate named Marcus Wellons, 59, was convicted of rape and murder and had his appeals denied by the U.S. Supreme Court. He was pronounced dead at 11:56 p.m. ET and there were no reported complications. An hour later, John Winfield, who was convicted of killing two women, was executed in Missouri after the Supreme Court also refused to halt his execution. A third execution, of John Ruthell Henry for killing his wife and her son, will take place Wednesday night in Florida. All three states did not say where the drugs for their lethal injections were procured or if they were tested.
