Five Children Killed in Israeli Raid

According to Palestinian officials, an Israeli airstrike on Gaza early Thursday morning killed eight members of a family, including five children, which brings the civilian death toll for Palestinians to 50, while at least 66 Palestinians have been killed overall. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned the rocket attacks and asked Israel for restraint, saying, “Gaza is on a knife edge.” Israel says the attacks are defensive, as more than 320 rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel. Thousands have been sent shelters, but those rockets have caused no serious casualties.
