Five men have been arrested in the alleged rape and torture of a Libyan woman who burst into a hotel housing foreign journalists on Saturday to tell her harrowing tale. The woman, Eman al-Obeidi, burst into a Tripoli hotel and told the journalists there that 15 men raped, urinated, and defecated on her while holding her for two days. In the midst of the chaotic scene at the hotel, Gaddafi’s security forces whisked her away in a car, and Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Kaim said al-Obeidi is safe and has had access to a lawyer. Kaim also said al-Obeidi’s claims are being taken very seriously and admitted the situation had been “mishandled.” One of the men detained is the son of a high-ranking police officer, Britain’s Sky News reported.
