Rick Scott is not letting anyone rain on his convention. The Florida governor insisted on Thursday that the there is not any “anticipation of cancellation” despite that tropical storm Isaac is gaining strength and expected to be upgraded to a hurricane on Friday. Despite Scott’s optimism—he said only “some wind and rain” is expected—Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn said the city is “absolutely” prepared to cancel the convention if necessary. Scott said he gave presumptive Mitt Romney "assurance" over the phone that Florida is prepared for a possible hurricane. Some officials, however, are worried that Florida residents have become complacent after the state has been spared any major hurricanes in the past few years.
