Panama City kids must feel safe in Santa’s care. Mike Jones, known as “Salvage Santa” for his volunteer work refurbishing gifts for needy children, returned to his job as Santa Claus Thursday. Jones shot Clay Duke during a Bay County School Board meeting after Duke interrupted the meeting and began firing shots. After being hit several times, Duke shot himself. Jones, a former school board member who is now the school’s security chief, was on vacation but had gone to the meeting to answer some questions. Jones insisted he is not a “hero,” and said he was “just doing my job.”
