Flailing MAGA Senator Busted Faking Man-of-the-People Moment
A Republican candidate’s bus tour appearance was not what it seemed.
A MAGA senator tried to portray himself as a man of the people—but the attempt quickly backfired.
Roger Marshall, the 66-year-old Kansas senator running for re-election, appeared to get off a bus before speaking to supporters on Tuesday during a six-day statewide tour ahead of the midterms.
But his everyman gimmick was quickly unraveled by NBC News’ Brennan Leach, who reported that Marshall was never actually on the bus branded with the Kansas GOP logo.

NBC News reported the truth behind Roger Marshall's bus tour appearance.

In reality, Marshall got out of a separate car, boarded the bus, then walked off it waving to supporters, according to the outlet.

After delivering his remarks, Marshall left the venue through a back door and got into a separate car again, an event organizer told NBC.

The report triggered an outpouring of brutal mockery from X users who called out the “performative” candidate.

Marshall drew flak over the stunt.

“Dude literally can’t even get out of his own way. A bus tour of Kansas and he’s not even ON THE BUS?!!!” one user said.
“Roger Marshall faking being a man off the people. Absolutely pathetic,” another added.
“Probably has to have his ‘crowd’ on the bus. Doesn’t really want to sit and listen to them, so puts on a show when he arrives at his talking point place,” another user chimed in. “That is how he has treated most Kansans.”
Marshall’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment for the Daily Beast.
The Kansas Republican Party kicked off a bizarre “Take Back Kansas” bus tour on Monday in an effort to bring the GOP ticket to 20 cities across the state, from Wichita to Kansas City.

The senator claimed he was excited for the bus tour.

“Kansas GOP bus tour 2026. I’ve been waiting for this day for several months and I can’t wait to go around the entire state,” Marshall said in a video on Monday.
“I bet there’s a dozen or so stops. We’re gonna bring a very, very simple message: this is what Republicans do,” he continued. “We secure the border, we give you a strong military, and we lower your taxes. You know, going forward, we’re gonna roll back regulations, we’re gonna stop wasteful spending, and we’re gonna throw fraudsters in jail. It’s just that simple.”
Marshall, the former representative for Kansas’ first congressional district, is serving his first Senate term. An InsiderAdvantage poll found that the Kansas Senate race remains a toss-up, with Marshall receiving 46.7 percent support while his Democratic opponent Adam Hamilton garnered 47.5 percent.
President Donald Trump is set to fly to Wichita next to rally the MAGA base.
“Roger is one of my favorite Senators—He is absolutely GREAT, a wonderful person,” Trump wrote in a fawning Truth Social post. “ROGER LOVES KANSAS, AND WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! I will be having a Kansas Style Rally, in Roger’s Honor, very soon. See you there!”
