At least 25 people were injured after a severe storm ripped through northeast Texas late Sunday, according to emergency-management officials. About 30 percent of the small town of Van, Texas, suffered damage while 26 patients were transported to hospitals during the severe weather overnight, Van Zandt County Fire Marshal Chuck Allen said in an email early Monday. Severe thunderstorms, flooding, and at least one tornado struck South Dakota and northern Texas on Sunday. National Guard troops were deployed to perform air rescues near Denton, Texas, where a tornado caused damage and flood waters had trapped some residents in their homes. On Saturday, more than 40 tornadoes ripped through parts of Colorado, southwest Nebraska, northwest Kansas, central Oklahoma and north Texas, killing one person and injuring three others.
