An office of the local Republican Party branch in Florida’s Volusia County was sprayed with gunfire over the weekend, leaving shattered windows and bullets at the scene. Tony Ledbetter, the county GOP chairman, told NBC News that a volunteer discovered the damage upon arriving at work Monday morning. “We’ve never had this problem before, never had this level of hate being thrown at ourselves,” Ledbetter said. No one was inside the office at the time of the shooting. South Daytona Police Capt. Mark Cheatham said four bullets were found at the scene, and police are tracking down security footage from nearby businesses as part of their investigation. Cheatham declined to speculate about a possible motive, telling NBC that it “could be one of the workers in there had a bad relationship with someone.”
