Voter registration in Florida will be extended by one week due to Hurricane Matthew’s effects on the state, a federal judge ruled Wednesday. “No right is more precious than having a voice in our elections,” U.S. District Judge Mark Walker said. Florida Gov. Rick Scott opposed the extension, which was proposed by the state’s Democratic Party. More than 1 million people were forced to evacuate their homes during the storm, which left more than 30 dead in the United States.
