According to James Foley’s mother, the U.S. government told family members that if they raised money for to pay ISIS a ransom, “we might be prosecuted.” Foley’s mother told CNN Thursday: “We were just told to trust that he would be freed somehow, miraculously.” She also said that it seemed the family was “an annoyance” to the government, and that they were told “not to go to the media.” She also said government officials said a military mission would not be attempted. “Jim was killed in the most horrific way. He was sacrificed because of just a lack of coordination, lack of communication, lack of prioritization,” she said.
