The McGarrigle Sisters are sadly no longer as one half of the Canadian folk duo, Kate McGarrigle, lost her battle to a rare form of kidney cancer on Monday night. She was diagnosed with clear cell sarcoma in 2006 and passed away from the disease four years later at the age of 63, but not before leaving her three-decade mark on the music industry. Montreal-born Kate and Anna McGarrigle recorded 10 albums as the McGarrigle Sisters, including songs that have since been covered by the likes of Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. McGarrigle was also the mother of contemporary musicians Rufus and Martha Wainwright, the former of whom cancelled his February tour to be by his mom's side.
