Footloose, the remake of the '80s dance flick, earned only $16.1 million on its weekend debut. That's lower than the 16.3 million that Hugh Jackman's Real Steel earned in its second week. Steel continues to claim the top box office spot. The original Footloose grossed more than $80 million worldwide in 1984, and it's unclear whether the new one will do as well. Horror flick The Thing opened to a lackluster $8.7 million and the Steve Martin, Owen Wilson, and Jack Black comedy The Big Year grossed a dismal $3.3 million in its debut weekend.
