For an economy in sore need of good news, all-American automaker Ford Motor Company is happy to help. The company just announced a $1.7 billion income for the latest quarter, the best third-quarter figures for Ford since 1990. On top of that, CEO Alan Mulally recently unveiled plans to add 1,200 new jobs at seven plants in Michigan over the next few years. Helping foster the renewed growth is the state of Michigan, which is set to approve more than $2 billion in tax incentives to encourage the big three automakers to keep investing.
