Ford to Import Focus From China to U.S.

CHANGE OF PLANS

Shifting production from Mexico across the Pacific.

Ford said Tuesday that it will import most of its new Focus models from China. Last year the company was criticized for its initial plans to build the cars in Mexico. The switch comes amid U.S. plans to restructure the North American Free Trade Agreement and growing uncertainty over the Mexican automotive industry. Ford said no jobs at the company's U.S. Focus plant will be lost. Instead, the plant will produce other Ford cars.
