A 22-year-old Fordham University student has died after falling 40 feet from the school’s iconic bell tower, the New York Daily news reported Sunday evening. Sydney Monfries, who was set to graduate in about a month from the Bronx college, was climbing to the top of the tower with friends at about 3 a.m. to photograph the city’s skyline when she tripped and fell through a gap in the stairs, police said. The Portland, Oregon-born student was rushed to the hospital with head trauma. Police said Fordham is investigating to determine how the students accessed the tower.
