A former United States Air Force Academy official claims in a new interview that the academy covered up the circumstances around two sexual assaults of female cadets in 2014 and 2015, CBS News reported Tuesday. Teresa Beasley, the academy’s former top official on sexual assault prevention and response, said she believes “deep down [Air Force officials] really don't believe that sexual assaults are happening. I think they’re minimizing the severity of them.” CBS This Morning co-host Norah O'Donnell asked if Beasley believes the Air Force Academy is “supportive of those who report sexual assault.” Beasley responded, “I would have to say absolutely not. No.”
