Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert suffered a stroke early last month and has been hospitalized for six weeks as he awaits sentencing for a hush-money case. “Mr. Hastert has suffered a stroke and has been treated for sepsis. While in the hospital, two back surgeries were performed,” his lawyer said in a statement Thursday. In October, Hastert pleaded guilty to evading bank-reporting laws by withdrawing money to conceal various misconduct.
