Fort Bragg Soldier Charged in Kidnapping of 12-Year-Old Girl

A Fort Bragg soldier has been accused of kidnapping a 12-year-old girl from her North Carolina home, the News & Record reports. According to a statement from Craven County Sheriff’s Office, James Murdock Peele was taken into custody and charged with “first-degree kidnapping” after he was found with the 12-year-old in Fayetteville. Peele is also facing “more charges,” the statement read. The grandmother of the child reportedly called the sheriff’s office Sunday morning after she found her granddaughter’s “window open... and a ransom note left on her bed.” The sheriff’s office, the FBI, the Secret Service, and the U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigation Division investigated the incident, and the child was reunited with her grandmother Sunday evening.
