Estaban Santiago, the alleged shooter who killed five people and injured eight others at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday, carried a weapon in his checked baggage, according to Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca. He added that Santiago took the weapon out of the suitcase at baggage claim, and “went into the bathroom to load it.” He then began shooting passengers who were waiting for their bags. A witness told MSNBC that Santiago was “shooting randomly into the crowd.” The airport has since been shut down and incoming flights have been diverted.
