Four Loko, the controversial caffeinated alcoholic beverage that has been linked to several deaths, will drop caffeine from its beverages. The move comes in anticipation of a ban on caffeinated alcoholic drinks from the FDA on Wednesday. "We have repeatedly contended—and still believe, as do many people throughout the country—that the combination of alcohol and caffeine is safe," said the company’s founders in a letter. They made no mention of the numerous incidents in which students were hospitalized after drinking the beverage. A can of Four Loko costs $2.50 and is the equivalent of four beers.
